Whcih ABS sensor?
Hi All --- I'm new here. Live in Idaho and drive a 2000 Dodge Ram 2500 Quad cab LB 4x4 w/ Cummins and 6 speed manual trans. I'm original owner and have 260K on it right now. I recently got the dreaded ABS and brake symbols staying lit on my dash and it appears that the likely culprit is the sensor in the rear end. My problem? Which sensor (of the god knows how many) is the right one? My dealer parts guy gives me a number that shows no longer available and when I try other Mopar/Chrysler OEM sites I get all sorts of numbers. I do know that because I have the 6 sp manual, that makes a difference but good lord. I even used my VIN on a site (which only gave me specs on what options were available on the vehicle I bought). Any help would be appreciated ---- Thanks.
Dealer Part # ....... 56028229AB
Some others ....... 5015882AA
Fitment for above = 2000DodgeRam 25005.9L -cc L6 DIESEL FI VIN 6 U/KHP OHV TurbochargedFront; Left, 4WD;Front; Right, 4WD;Rear; Qty needed per vehicle: 1 ;What does VIN 6 U/KHP mean? Is that indicating the 6 speed?

With der diesel, and a manual trans, I am pretty sure you have the Dana 80 rear end in yours.
Rock Auto shows this one...... It *looks* right....
they don't seem to differentiate between axles and such. Seems reasonable. Can't find one OEM......
If you do a google search on the part number, a bunch o' stuff comes up, take a look at what you have, and see if you can find something that matches up.

Thanks for the reply. Something to be aware of ...... if you search under electrical for this sensor you will often get the speed sensor(s) associated with the automatic transmission output shaft and not the ABS sensor. The ABS sensor can be in it's own category of ABS stuff or, in Rock Auto, it's categorized under brakes. And then you get to go down the rabbit hole wheeeee !
There are three problems with your truck. One it's a Cummins
, two the silicone wire harness going from the sensor to the frame rail the wires tend to break inside of it with no sign of wear on the silicone harness itself, three the plug that this harness connects to (by frame rail) tends to break where the pins just pull out of it. I had all three problems and what I did was the following: swapped the Cummins with a 360 (soon to be a Hemi), cut open the silicone harness and soldered the wire that broke, and third cut a plug off a junkyard truck and soldered that on. If you need pics of what I'm talking about let me know and I'll post them here.

Thanks for your help MF21. I just picked up the sensor this AM and will see if it fixes the issue. My PU takes a beating hauling a 20ft stock trailer in and around dairies where recently it's been so muddy/nasty that I sank up to the bottom of the diff in a matter of seconds. So I won't be surprised if the wiring is toast too. BTW --- nothing like working under a pickup covered in mud/manure ...... Seems I never have to get underneath in the good weather part of the year.
And the Cummins is the best part of this pickup. Even the mice that live under the hood or the weasel that tried to catch them can't stop it. Nothing like driving along and having a weasel pop his head up by the wipers.

Yes, you have a Dana 80. And no, don't listen to moparfanatic as he's the only person on the earth who swapped OUT a cummins
You have a gem of a truck so just keep fixing it since no one makes a stick after 2018. Stupid world.

plus I have the advantage of less weight off road. All I have to say is 800HP Hemi that I'm doing (when I get the time) beats a Cummins any day in my book :b I thought Dodge still made a stick truck, and that's what made them big in commercial applications. If they did stop that's just plain stupid. I'll sell you both the 12V with an auto and the 24V with the stick, both computers, and harnesses for $500. Can even hear them run before you buy them
