removing my muffler
hey guys i have a 1999 Ram 2500 v8 360 4x4 and i just got a new exhaust system on it and i was thinking about removing my muffler. Would removing my muffler increase my gas mileage at all?
Not to mention that if you pass a cop with a hard-on for loud vehicles, and he stops you and looks under the truck and sees no muffler, in most municipalities they will give you a ticket for "defective equipment". I used to have a bada$$ '69 Ford (sorry guys, but it was a bada$$ truck) and I had headers with Cherry Bomb mufflers that were cut apart and gutted and welded back together. I got stopped a few times, but never got a ticket because it APPEARED there were real mufflers on it.

found out my son is going to fairbanks not anchorage so you probably won't run into him but if you see a big red chevy side of the road stop and see if needs any help.

no it wont increase your milage at all, it might even go down... less backpressure, lower low end torque = decrease in gas milage

Your gas mileage can actually go up, the muffler may be restricting quite a bit so taking it off would allow a smoother flow..Your convertor(at least on mine) should provide enough restriction to keep the low end and mpg from not dropping
