Default Thermostat housing bolt size help!

Hi,

My truck is a 2001 Dodge Ram 1500 quad cab 8 foot bed 4 wheel drive with a 5.2 l Magnum.

I was trying to replace the thermostat and I snapped both bolts on removal I see that it's a common scenario I just need to know what size bolts they are I believe their M8 can anyone verify what what they are so I can try to Source them at a big box store. I called my local Dodge parts department and they said that the bolts have been discontinued and they couldn't give me any help on any size which I thought was BS.

I need my truck so I'm trying to get this accomplished right away I plan on drilling the old bolts out by stepping up in size on the drill bits I plan also on using a punch to start the first bit so it doesn't wander off.

If anyone has some other experience or helpful tips to add I'm all ears thank you so much.

Grab the parts manual for your truck from the FAQ/DIY section here in the second gen ram section. That should list bolt size.
