Red face cylinder 6 misfire

Hello, I am a newcomer. I see other threads but not sure that it fits my truck. I have a 2001 5.2 Ram 4x4 235,000 still purrs for the most part. side note solid frame but typical body rot. For a few months the truck would randomly stall when I let off the gas. Sometimes several times a day. Some days not at all. My husband and friends and our local shop couldn't figure it out. Did a tune-up and put in a used coil pack. no change. Then after a couple weeks the stalling didn't occur for about a month. Last week it gave me a hard start, I ran to deli and left running and came back. Next morning for work it gave me another hard start and the engine light came on. I got down the road to stop light and it stalled and wouldn't start. I left it sit a half hour and then it started right up, engine light still on. I drove it directly to the local auto shop. They have had it four days and it starts every time but the engine light is still. It throws a code for cyclinder 6 misfire. The shop would like to install a coil. I am wondering if a faulty coil would make it stall? If it would make it hard to start, twice? and if it would throw that code? Suggestions

Faulty coil would not give you a misfire on just one cylinder.

What brand spark plugs did you install?

Think I would also yank the throttle body, remove the IAC valve, and clean things out really well. (typical cause of stalling randomly)

Thanks, I will try this. I did read something a while back about IAC as a possibility for stalling. Not sure what brand plugs I got last time.

Buster, it sounds like you're saying you have "coil packs" and not a single coil for the ignition...is this the case?

True Blue, honestly Idk. not that mechanicly inclined. One mechanic said he was replacing the coil pack with one he had from a parts truck. The other mechanic yesterday said he replaced ignition coil. I think they were the same part which is an ignition coil not a pack
