Long story short, I'm blowing a decent amount of smoke. I started to look into a re manufactured engine for my 95 2500. But money has gotten a little tight. I just today found a guy selling a 2000 5.9L for a good price and am about to take him up on it. But first, are there any differences between the two I need to know of before I commit?

You will need the intake, and exhaust manifolds (at least the passenger side) from the old motor. Be careful of the crank sensor when you are removing/installing the motors. Best to pull it FIRST, and keep track of it. They tend to get destroyed otherwise.
While you have the manifold off, fix the plenum as well. (read the thread stickied at the top of this forum for more information than you would ever really want about that.....) Plenum might just be your oil consumption problem in any event.
