Default Bought My first ram few questions

New Here. Today I bought a 5.2 L ram with 178K miles for 425$. Now it leaks Power steering fluid and has No A/C but that stuff i can do. What I am worried about is the transmission is sort of weird. It will go through all gears and go into overdrive but occasionally it won't shift up until I give it some throttle. It will also occasionally downshift for no reason and then up shift. Also the gear indicator is out of wack is it like Ford's where it is a worm gear under the dash or is it different from that?

THink I would go after the shift linkage first. Make sure the bushing and such are good, and it's adjusted properly.

Should I do a tranny flush and change the filter? I was going to do it but the linkage I haven't inspected it.
