Keep failing transducer:
Would you happen to know the proper shift sequence of this trans? Does it start in 1st with the converter unlocked, reach a certain speed or hydraulic pressure, lock the converter, then upshift to second? I don't know the hydraulic sequence at all but there is no shuddering I'm aware of on any upshift, or downshift. Everything is very smooth in operation but you have to accelerate to just over 20mph, let off the accelerator for about three seconds while the 1st to 2nd upshift takes place, then very gingerly apply throttle or it will rapidly downshift back to 1st.
Hi there. Sorry for the delay as been on the road all day; 19 hours behind the wheel and tired. The old Dodge V-10 may not get the best mileage but it always gets me there and back.....
I was told different and the converter locked during 1st to 2nd upshift and that's why I titled the thread "transducer failing". This would obviously be in error if the converter does not lock till 3rd gear which is correct as per feeling.
I did adjust the bands about 50k ago, and again with the second replacement valve body. 72in# and front band backed off I think two turns, and rear band 2-3/4. Could be the other way but it was by the service book. No skipping or shudder ever. One time it did run away but hasn't since the second valve body was installed.

I have to run up to Chicago for the next couple of days and will return on Thursday evening. Grand daughters need some visiting and grandma needs picked up. I'll get back onto this Friday morning. I know adjusting the front band the friction material is getting thin as the adjuster is barely out of the case past the locknut. I had to run it in quite a bit from the last adjustment. The trans never did shift sloppy and was always crisp and clean. It always has been smoother than the one ton Dodge Ram with the 46RE in the pickup behind the V-10 engine which shifts more aggressive but not obnoxious at all.
Ran back out to the shop and dropped the pan, adjusted both front and rear bands to 72in pounds, then backing the adjuster off exactly two turns, and while holding the adjuster stationary, tightened the locknuts down. The upshift from 1st to 2nd is the same however a LOT more throttle can be applied before it downshifts back into 1st gear now. I can probably keep up with traffic as it is now where the forced upshift was about a 10 second ordeal and it is now about three.
The front band which I had adjust earlier was just about to fall off the struts it was so loose internally and the adjuster is now right even with the top of the lock nut with everything cinched down. It did protrude above the locknut about 1/2 inch prior to the last adjustment with the valve body change so parts are wearing as in "high time of service".

Band adjustment is a phenomenol improvement. Can now let off throttle and immediately reapply as shift is much faster. I brought my tools with me and am going to run the front band in another 1/8th turn to try additional gain.
After the 195 mile drive up to Chicagoland, I jump off the interstate to a stoplight. Upon acceleration from a dead stop with my anticipation to let off at 20mph, the transmission very roughly auto up shifts at 12 mph which is the same speed it used to. This was completely a surprise to me. The shift was much rougher than normal however. The next 25 or so upshifts from a dead stop have progressively smoothed out back to normal. Hopefully when everything cools. back down it remains the same. If not I'm going to adjust the front band a bit tighter. Been a strange problem for sure and the assistancE is appreciated.
