CRAZY IDEA???
ok go ahead after i post this say im one dumb a** (lol) but i have a small air compressor in bed of my truck that i use to use alot but I never use it any more and I was thinking about how turbos and supercharger and really they just pump air in the in intake? so what if I ran a hose to my intake and put some fresh air in it i know i wont work like a turbo or supercharger but just for FUN (KEY WORD FUN) to see if it would do anything for HP?
Thanks Dan

in theroy.. i think youll get a better result of it being a colder air source than anything of it being pressureized..im sure itll have some affect but not like a charger of any sort... them things run like 15 or 20 lbs of boost over a larger area (ie. being an intake plenum and or intake tube having a large diameter) you may get 100 psi but only out of a small opening like the air line ... its worth a shot..im sure itll be fun!!!! tell us how it goes!!!!!!!!
It would be kind of like one of these kits: http://www.designengineering.com/pro...asp?m=sp&pid=4 Only not as effective, especially if the compressor is run off of your truck's electrical system. It would put a strain on your alternator.
They don't do much for N/A motors. The intake charge is already cool enough to prevent KR/ping/detonation.
I was looking into one of those cryo purge kits for my car. I wanted to install it in my SD ram air hood so I could shoot vapor out the vents. Put a little scare in the damn ricers that try to race me all the time (as if the exhaust note wasn't enough) [8D] It was going to be my one and only "ricer-ish" mod, but I decided for the price I could just build one. I saw a video of some guys screwing around on a dyno. They had a pretty heavily modded S-10 with NOS. One guy held a handheld blower over the throttle body as the guy in the truck ran it on the dyno. They gained quite a few horsepower. I can't remember how much.

I wont laugh at you. I always wanted a 50 cal machine gun mounted under the grill to shred the tires of people who drive under the speed limit in the passing lane. Hmmm maybe someday
cheers

only builds BOOST (ie pressure) if the system is closed, as in the throttle plate is closed etc.... what about turbos you say"? the proppeller wheel effectively seals it building pressure.. nice, but, you also haveo t worry abotu leaning it out... I know because I had a dropped mazda years back, that I ran a 12 volt leaf blower, I upped the carb fuel and rana boost gague...it made ALMOST 2 lbs of boost and the exhaust note changed totally and power was noticeably differnt, hwoever, i burned 2 sets of plugs from too lean before i researched and figured it out....
next turbo project was a VNT shadow Dodge Shadow that ran 18lbs

no its not a crazy idea. but it will not work. you will need to provide 3-6psi at a huge cfm(depending on your motor.. around 600) rate to get any power gain(allow for more air which means more fuel. currently your motor sucks in more air than a normal compressor can dish out at 1psi
