Default RKE box?

When I was installing my fog lights the other day and had the left kick panel out, I found this interesting little box wired in. It was shoved into a hole behind the panel, and it had an FCC code on it, but it didn't say Mopar or Dodge or anything on it...I couldn't find any type of brand name. The install was done quite nicely...looked professional. I decided that it is some type of reciever or transmitter, as I found it by tracing a little wire back that didn't seem to go anywhere, and I believe it was the antenna. Is the where a factory remote keyless entry module would be wired in? It has power locks, but I don't know if it has remote entry from the factory, although it did have some kind of aftermarket remote (that worked) when I bought the truck that has since broken. Could I get a factory remote and it would work?

I just found this same box the other day. My locks were freaking out when I hit big bumps the would lock and unlock. So I ripped apart my panels and found that box with two wires that had been sniped off just haning there. My friend who works at a car audio place said the wires that were sniped went to the remote locks. My truck didnt come with the clicker, I see why someone removed the whole thing and left the wires dangling behind the kick panel. Now to your question my friend did say I could hook up a remote unlock and lock system pretty easy to it. I actually think I say one at autozone for $40 bucks or so. You just need to figure out which wires do what on that box.

Just my two cents not that it is worth very much

It sounds like the correct location, but it doesn't sound like the factory unit. It would have a part number, and probably a Chrysler pent-a-star branding or a Delphi logo on it.

I have that same box-it was part of an aftermarket remote start/alarm system, I believe it it used to reduce interference from your transmitter to other radio equipment in the area. I was in my garage last summer working on my lawnmower and my truck started all by itself, keys were in the house hanging on a hook (imagine my surprise). So I couldnt figure out why it did it, and I never use the remote start, so I went out on the net and pulled the schematics up and uninstalled the whole system. The funniest part was that when i bought the truck it didnt come with any remotes for the remote system, it was my understanding from previous owner that the transmitter was shot, so I got rid of it all.

Just so we are clear I removed that box completely and my locks still work. Just had to put my wires back together.
