Default Rough idle and other issues

First off, sorry if this is already a topic. When I start my truck up it has a real bad idle. Then when i put it into gear and give it gas it bogs down and feels like there is no power. I've replaced the TPS. I just don't have the money to keep replacing random stuff hoping its the issue. Any help or advice is greatly appreciated. My truck is a 1998 1500 5.9

Have you checked the plenum? When was your last tune up? How many miles?

I have not checked the plenum. I am not sure when the last tune up was. I am planning on doing one soon. It has 244,000 miles on it.

Another thing that can be done quickly n for free. Have the cat checked by a reputable exhaust shop. Here in DFW, they'll pressure check the cat for free. If you can't find that, pull the airhat, open the butterflys on the throttle boday, look down to the bottom of vthe plenum n see if there's a swimming pool of oil down there. If there is...blown gasket n prolly clogging cat. Any check engine lite?
