If properly maintained, yes.

One of the reasons I bought my 98 2500 with the 8.0 was because I would regularly see them listed with well north of 200K miles on them, and still running strong.

So far, one of the best pulling engines I've ever had the pleasure of owning. Keep the maintenance up and your eyes open for parts and you'll be good to go.

I recently bought my 1998 2500 v10 in feb, and at 121000 on the clock, it still can spin the Mickey thompsons in a parking lot with total ease. Best truck my family has ever owned for towing and hauling. I made a 300 mile round trip in the truck and the powertrain never skipped a beat. The truck also has performance headers, exhaust, and no cats (no emissions here in iowa) so it sounds amazing. As long as it has been well maintained, that is an engine that will never disappoint.

Except at the gas pump...... If I break into double digits around town, I feel I am doing good.

cant deny that one, but it's better than multiple new lift pumps on a cummins. I don't drive it unless I need to haul or tow. Gas here is nearing $3/gal, so I am probably going to get a k&n air filter and see how much that does. Depending on how I drive ,i avg. Anywhere from 10-13.5 highway. The headers probably help on that.
