Sorry long thread here but I really wanted to do my best to give an understanding of the incidents that I believe led up to my issue. Thanks in advance!!

hello all I have 98 ram 2500 5.9 gas... a couple of weeks ago I filled up my tank an ya know how the gas pump kicks down at the end of funds we’ll the one near me happened to kick down right as it was full while reaching the max limit on available amount the safety thing on the pump that doesn’t let it keep pumping after full never got set off as it was topping off my tank (my gas station let’s me do 90$ per transaction) so not knowing that it was full I figured I needed to do another transaction (as I usually do for about 3-4 gallons) an it took like a half more gallon.

Sooo I went to work I parked in a big empty lot, it was like 82 degrees out that day I had parked my black dodge drivers side facing the sun when I got back to my truck after about 8 hrs it was roasting big time. So I took it for a drive up the block to pick up a buddy that was parking the boat. An it started idiling really sparatic like it wanted to die an then died. I gotten out did a once over on everything didn’t see anything unusual. But then I thought I have seen this before on my boat when the fuel tank isn’t venting so I went over to gas cap an popped it off an it sounded like I opened the cooling system under pressure just a big spew off vapors. Then the trucks idle smoothed right out made it home just fine. The next day I’m cruising along in the neighborhood an it’s trying to die on me idle is creeping down. Now if I start it it’ll die immediately unless I have my foot onto the gas pedal a bit. Other than it does just fine on the highway.

I guess what im wondering is if I could’ve messed out some sort of breather with my tank being full of so much pressure on that hot day that would make something like this go on.

So if I have fuel in vacuum lines the purge valve isn’t working correctly?
