I appreciate your help and information. I will finish it up tomorrow hopefully. One question...are you saying to use silicone along with the metal gasket I got from the dealer? I have heard mixed opinions on using a gasket and silicone together. Some say use one or the other, but not both together. Let me know what you think. Thanks.

Yes, I would apply a very thin film of oil resistant silicone sealer to manifold and pan sealing surface only. In fact, people that run this manifold and a supercharger have found it is better to use a film of silicone and no gasket at all. I recommend you keep the gasket tho since your not running forced induction and just put a thin film of silicone to mating surfaces and use new bolts. All of the plenum gaskets I have seen are fiber covered metal, is yours strictly a metal one?If you put in a metal only one they are very hard to get to seal unless the mating surfaces are machined to an extremely flat tolerance and finish which these manifolds are not.

I can tell you from experience what doesnt work... the updated gasket w/o sealant and also "the Right Stuff" w/o a gasket. each time I torqued down the plenum in the proper sequence using an INCH pound torque wrench with the right amount of passes... 24, 48 and 84" #'s

my next attempt (in about a week) will be the updated mopar gasket with black rtv on both sides.

The new gasket from mopar is nothing more than a very thin piece of metal...I took the manifold and gasket to a machine shop that does head work, etc. and they didn't think the thin metal gasket would completely seal the plenum pan. They used a copper sealer to try and help it out, but I STILL have a slight leak and once again random misfire, just not near as bad as before. This is getting to be ridiculous. Do you guys think ATV sealant used along with the metal gasket will work? I am going to have to pull it out again and try something else, just not sure what to try. I can't believe dodge didn't think about this mess before changing to this type of gasket for its replacement. Thanks.

the gasket I bought (2 times) from the dealer is thin bare metal...there is absolutely no sealant or fiber material coated on it whatsoever. makes it impossible to completely seal the metal pan with the aluminum manifold.

It sounds like you got a bundle wrapped up already, I would be cutting my losses and getting a new crate motor, I have 171,000 on my motor, when something serious happens I am just replacing it. Take all my goodies and swap.

this is my next step. I have the same problem you do and I have the aluminum plate. gasketmaker by itself does not work either... that's what I have in there now. I used "the right stuff".

I bought another type of gasket and am going to try it out. Its a fel-pro metal gasket covered with a soft fiber material on both sides (4x thicker than the mopar metal gasket). I also bought some permatex hard gasket maker that I am going to use with it. I think this will work. I only have a slight leak causing random misfires on this last attempt, but its enough for me to try something new. Once I get it done I'll let you know how it turned out.

Thats a good deal on the enigine, but last time I bought an engine online I never received it. It took me almost 2 years to get my money back.
