Default Truck dies as soon as i release the key

Hi EV1.....i traded up a 98 1500 4WD & aperantly there are no keys with it. I replaced the switch but i still cant start it to even see what i got. It will start but dies as soon as u let go of the switch. Ive read a few things on the VTSS being in lock down but really dont have a clue as to what i have to go through to fix it. My daily driver is a 97 F-150 & im really tired of getting stuck on wet grass...lol...if anyone could point me in the right direction it would be a big help.....thx for ur time

Is the 'security' lite in the dash on? I didn't think the 98's had the chipped key.... Mine doesn't.....

They dont, i dont think RFID chip or whatever was ever an option. Thatd be the key fob you need to de-activate that i think. But your alarm should be going off as well, so that wouldnt make since. Sure the new key cylinder is good? Installed correctly?
