I am planning on slowly upgrading my stereo. I first plan, for christmas, to get 4 new speaker for the doors. Correct me if i am wrong, but the rear speakers are 5 1/4" right? ('99 Ram QC 5.9 4x4) But i am not sure what my front ones are i just looked throught the slotted holes in the doors and they are definitely larger than the rear ones and look oval. Does anyone know the size of the fronts?

 

I have a 2001 QC and I was told that my front speakers were 6x9s. This is from the company that installed my head unit.

 

uh.. depends on if you have the infinity system or not. if you have the infinity i think the fronts are six by nines if not then they are either 6 and a half or 5 and a quarter like the backs.

 

lol i was just going to post a new message asking the same exact thing cept i have a 95 standard cab and i wanna replace the ones in the door. go to crutchfield.com they will tell you wat size will fit. also i have the infinity system and ive heard 6x9 but he wasnt sure. and when you buy the speakers go to overstock.com they are really really cheap.

 

are the backs 5 1/4"? I went on crutchfield and it said 6 1/2" in the back for the infinity, but how do you know if you have the infinity system or not, if the one in the front are 6x9" does that mean you have the infinity system? Because i know for sure that they are at least 6x9 or larger.

yea just go to www.crutchfield.com and you can select year make model for your truck and you can see "what fits my vehicle" and gives many options with many explanations... very very usefull site and have "decent" prices... but again nothing beats ebay!!!!! have fun!

 

i went to crutchfield.com and it said 6 1/2" for the back which does not seem right. Haven't measured my back ones yet but they definitely do not look like 6 1/2", look more like 5 1/4". I went to bestbuy.com and did the same thing and it came up with 5 1/4" and i did the same thing on another site (can't remember which one) and it said 5 1/4". And, i am getting them from bestbuy because i have a friend that works there that can buy them for list price, i want the same sony's he got, advertised for $80.00 and he was able to get them for $30.00!

 

All the Rams I have seen with the Infinity setup have a tweeter in each window pillar, and a midrange in the door above the 6x9. The factory 6x9 Infiniti could be proprietary also,meaning you would have to buy it thru the dealer for a stock replacement. It has an amp built on to the speaker and I have yet to see one for sale at any stereo/speaker joint. You can put a 5 1/4 or 6 1/2 into the 6x9 spot with the appropriate adapter plate. I installed 5 1/4 in the back of mine but it would also accept 6 1/2 with no adapter plates although the sound just isn't up to what I wanted so I disconnected them completely and went with some speaker boxes,amp and crossover box.

 

yeah just gonna say but 94 beat me to it.. the tweeters in the window pillar are the dead give away.. if no tweets.. then no infinity

 

well, i guess i do not have the infinity system, but i still have a question. Can i just put a 6x9 in the 2 front doors? You said there was an amp built into them? What exactly do i need to get other than speakers for the front doors?
