changed fuel filter smoke issue
Hi. I just changed the fuel filter on 99 cummins diesel. Seemed simple but now i have smoke from a rubber pipe running from the front of engine down under the truck about half way back. I cranked the starter 5 times and the truck started right up.I took the truck for a 5 mile trip. Drove fine but still have smoke from the rubber pipe?? I have no idea what that pipe is for and why its putting out smoke after changing the fuel filter. Can anyone tell me??
Thank you. John,
Thank you. John,
Thanks for the info. Seems like a lot of smoke to me since it didn't do it prior to me changing the fuel filter. Drove it today a few miles and still smoking from the breather hose but truck drives just fine. .

Thanks for the info, bit of a relief. Looking through my invoices i see this: crankcase vent tube reroute: Moving the crank case vent from in front of the radiator , to the drivers side rear of engine, will prevent oil blow from gettting on the radiator and then dirt sticking to it, causing poor air flow and possible over heating of engine.
