torque converter install
Ok, so I took out my transmission and rebuilt it. Now for the life of me after several combined hours/ taking breaks I can not get the friggen torque converter seated all the way in. I can only get it so the pads are flush with the bell housing, when it stops it makes a solid contact noise like it is bottoming out. Have measured EVERYTHING with caliper etc. all indicates It should go another 1/2 easy but it won't after about 50 tries it ends up the same. when I turn it and pull it off it shows that it is turning the pump tabs. but turn twist push shake left right on again off again I can not get the ****er all the way on.
I've had the same problem installing the converter. I just found that I needed massive patience. I installed the converter by lifting up a bit on the snout and pushing it back into the transmission in a fluid motion and finally got it to install as it should.
It helps to line up the pump tabs with the converter also before trying to put it on. Some can be a real pita! If you get it in partially pull it out slightly(1/8") turn it and push in again. Eventually you will get it.
Have you tried the right combination of swearing and holding your tongue outside your mouth?
Check to ensure there is no debris in either the trans housing or the TC. Sometimes, the right amount of sliding and wiggling makes it going in with a sweetness.

it was the wrong one, frickeen oriellys had like six options and I just went with one that had 131 teeth and the guy did not ask about spline count as it was not specified. When I went back I ordered the one with 23 spline but it did not say how many teeth it had!!!. When it showed up luckily 3 hours later it did have the 131 teeth. Fricken Oriellys has gone to crap lately. Employees half assed and their documentation is poor. Also on their reman brake calipers they coat the banjo bolt rings so it doesnt seal up unless you reef on it and possibly break the bolt or put two washer in. Seen this 3 times now.
