Default 01 Dodge ram 2500 Magnum alternator

What is the factory alternator for my truck? I'm planning on getting the pulley switched out because it's really rusty and squeals awfully. Was thinking about getting the whole mechanism switched out but my mechanic says the alternator itself is still fine. Truck just hit 165,000, anybody have a link to the right pulley?

Pulley generally comes with a the replacement alternator. That said, if you just want it cleaned up, take it off, clean it up, paint it, put it back on.

If it's squealing, verify the belt tensioner is doing its job, and the belt is in good shape.

Alright thank you, I put a new belt on to see if it would stop but it hasn't. Earlier this year I had a new idler and tensioner put on.

When you have the belt off, spin the alternator. Listen and feel it. You can usually hear and or feel bearings that are dry and going to need replacing. I suspect you're at that point. I buy new Remy Gold alternators from Rock Auto.

I took my alternator to a local re-builder, a couple of years ago, and had them test it, while it was there I had them freshen it up (their terminology)
they took it apart, installed new bearings, brushes, cleaned it all and painted the pulley all for about $40 as I recall.
