Default Clutch problem

I just put a new transmission in my truck last night and I had a problem with the clutch not wanting to go in. finally I pressed the clutch in and it went to the floor(while the hydrulic cylinder was out of the bellhouseing). When we put the cylinder back inside the bellhouseing the clutch pedal kept goin to the floor. I really need some help on getting this problem fixed. Does anyone have any ideas on what my problem is?

did you open up the clutch cylinder at all? meaning could there be air in the clutch system... it might need to be bled.

also are you sure the plate is installed correctly? not sure if the dodge clutch plate can go in backwards and still work... I had a truck when I was a teen that I put the disk in backwards and ... no clutch.

No i never opened up the clyinder but i did pump the clutch for about a hour and still went to the floor. Im not sure if I put the Clutch in backwards but i put it in and there wasn't anything telling me which way was the right way to go in. Could it be a problem that the thing that the throw-out bearing sets on might have slipped off of the **** in the bellhouseing? I would really like the get this problem fixed to get that truck back on the road.

could be... your best bet is to crawl under there and look at what's going on while someone pushes the clutch pedal down. if your fork is moving ok then go back to where ever you bought the disk and get another one on the counter and see if it says "flywheel side" or something like that on it indicating it needs to go a certain way. that would suck if you have it in backwards...

The clutch pedal comes back up when it goes down and I had someone under there to see what was goin on, it leaked at first from the bolts but then when we tightened them up, no leaks. But the pedal comes back up. How do you bled the clutch fluid? This is the first time I have worked on a hydrolic clutch. But if the pedal does come back up, it might just need bled.

The clutch disc is orientation specific,it should be stamped "flywheel side" on one side of the disc. My factory manual for 95's [yours may be different tho] says that the clutch hydraulic release assembly is non repairable and must be replaced as a unit, no provisions for rebuild or bleeding although you can add fluid to it.Go figure. ouch

So I take it that I need to buy another clutch cylinder. But why would I be getting pressuse off of the clutch pedal when the clutch doesn't losen up. I tried to start it i gear and when I turned it truck over, it krept foward so something isn't working right. Do you know how much one of those clutch cylinders cost.

I don't have any idea how much they are, I have an auto in mine,I wouldn't buy a clutch release assembly until you were sure it is assembled correctly. Take a look at the disc you replaced and see if it is marked as to which side should face the flywheel. If it is not marked,do you remember which side was facing which way when you took it off so you can compare it to the new one? I would check -1-clutch fluid level.2-loose clutch cover.3-release fork operation.4-clutch disc in backwards.5-wrong clutch disc.

Well i can't remember which side came out first of the box. But could it be that the release fork for the throw-out isn't on its knotch. but if that is the case the pedal wouldn't come back up. I don't know about it but I really need to get this problem fixed. I just don't want to take that transmission back off to switch the clutch around. I hope that I put it in right.
