Default Engine tick (forced upgrades)

So my engine has formed a tick. Probably just a bad lifter butttt this gives me a reason to take the engine apart to an extent. She’s high miles 190k so I think bearings and seals are in order for this old 5.9 magnum. I went and looked for scat to get a nice crank and saw a stroker kit, made by them. Does anybody have info on a 408 stroker kit? What’s the power like, how’s it rev and all that good stuff. If it’s coming apart to be refreshed I’m going to do what I’ve always wanted for my dodges and build it up!

What year is your truck?

There are several 408 build threads drifting around here. Being more cubes, of course it is gong to put down more power. Just depends on what parts you put into it. Not an inexpensive proposition though. Keep that in mind.

If you're sure it's just a sticky lifter, put some seafoam in the crank and switch to maxlife oil. Cured my lifter over 100k ago and I'm now at 244k. Gives you time to research engines.

That will make tuning the new engine easier.

Would this make it a higher revving engine? Any idea where the power band is??

Long stroke, so, this is going to be a low-end grunt type of motor.

What he siad unless you invest another 4k minimum into the top end to peak at 6000-6500. But that too will require probably another 3-4k to really make it drivable... unless you're wanting to race it i don't recommend that.

190k doesn't mean much in terms if longevity. Plenty of these running 400,000+ miles. As the other guy mentioned, running a seafoam or MarvelMysteryOil cleaning cycle for 500 miles or so before you change the oil can help a lot.
