Default Moog ball joints?

You'll have to excuse this (probably) repeat question. I'm a FNG, but I did search this forum and others finding mixed reviews.

I intend to install upper and lower ball joints on a '99 gas 1500 4x4. I have the Moog ones but after doing some reading I am hesitant to install them. I hear stories of the steering becoming erratic due to stiff spots in the rotation of the joint. People are saying the lowers are the problem.

Couple of questions:
1. Is this true?
2. Is it only the 2wd type joint or both 2 and 4 wd type joints?
3. Should I even bother with the Moog uppers or swap everything?
4. What joints should I be installing? Anything on rockauto good?
5. I have other Moog front end components. Am I ok with these?

Thanks in advance for your help

Moog used to be good, but not anymore. I had their ball joints and they lasted one year. I am not running Dana Ball joints and universals, timken seals/bearings, and AC Delco steering parts. I personally wouldn't use them. RockAuto has a set of Dana Upper and lower ball joints for $62 (X2 because you should replace both sides) so $124 for 4 ball joints plus shipping and it's the same guys who built the axle

Corrected the above statement. ('now", not "not" running.....) With that, I agree with this sentiment. The originals lasted 20 plus years? Sure, I'd go with those again.
