47re fails to engage, or engages harsh
Well, I thought maybe it was a fluke ...but it's happening more often:
start cold, put in d, or r and trans sounds like it engages (...but doesn't lurch like it usually does) gas pedal and it just revs. Eventually shift from n to r to d then push gas and during gas pedal it does engage quite loudly you can feel it in your butt.
after that im fine, drives and shift smooth. Its had a loud lurching engagement since day 1, ...but the rev like it's in neutral than sudden bang and im in gear is new. Also the lurch feels more violent than ever
Im inclined to believe anything beyond a fluid, filter changes and band adjustment (done 12 months 3k miles ago) is beyond my skills.
any thing specifically anyone think I should try before heading to a trans shop? Fluid is pretty and full but not overfilled.
Thanks, ray

Disconnect the 8 pin connector on the drivers side of the trans, about halfway back. It goes straight down into the top of the valve body. (on the outside of the trans.) This will disable the electronics completely, so, no automatic function at all, and no TCC or O/D. So start in first, and shift manually up/down as appropriate. If the trans goes into the gear you tell it to, when you tell it to, you have an electronics problem, and you can easily fix it your self. (replace governor pressure sensor and solenoid. Less than a 100 bucks for both. Plus fluid, of course, I would replace the filter as well anyway......) If it still exhibits odd behavior, it's a mechanical issue, and that means..... rebuild time.
