Steering gear box

Default Steering gear box

Have slack in the shaft the pitman arm is on. My question is will doing the preload adjustment take this out or should I go for a new box. Have already tried the top adjustment and it helped some but not enough.

no you will have to repace the pitman shaft bearings and seal

I had the same problem with my last truck 99' Dodge Quad cab I changed the steering box as it was easier and quicker.I think I paid around $175.

Yeah think thats what I'll do. Guy on Ebay selling remans for 125.00. Then try one of those Windecker kits so I wont rip the next one out.
