Default Cluster dimmer switch

My 96 1500 has a new issue. The headlights and all lights work fine however my cluster lights don't work. Is there a way to bypass the dimmer switch so they work? I know on my 94 eclipse I spliced 2 wires together and they worked just couldn't adjust the brightness

Check the switch. They are notorious for burning up.

Before that check fuse 13 in the panel at driver side end of the dash.

Tan wire with orange trace sends power to the lamps. Then it just goes to ground. See if you are getting power OUT of the switch first. If you are, check the ground. (black with orange trace, coming out of cluster.)

so the tan wire goes to the cluster lights than the cluster grounds it? so I could just splice the tan/orange wire to a power wire with a toggle switch and be good?

Actually you could just connect the tan/orange to the black/yellow right near the switch. That way the cluster lights are switched on together with the lights. I'd test it first by jumping the wires right at the back of the connector to make sure the problem is the dimmer.

I'd just use quick splice connectors to add a short piece of wire in between the two. That way if you ever get a new switch/dimmer you just have to remove the jumper and everything is back to stock. Don't cut the black/yellow that's for the parking lights.
