Default 01 ram 3rd gear issue

Im new to having a ram and the one i have is in poor shape. The biggest issue is i belive its third gear but shifts 1 2 in 3rd the rpms spike before it shifts and some times after it could be second. The other issues are a whine like powersteering but its full and the wheel dosent return to straight as it should after a turn. The brake light flashes as soon as you put it in gear. The brake pedal goes down quiet a bit to start but then firms up as you drive. And oh uea the bed is rusting off. Any insight on the teans or break issues would be amazing. thanks for any help

When is the last time the trans was serviced? Fluid/filter/band adjustment?

Inspect your brakes. See what kind of shape everything is in. Rear brake adjustment is what controls pedal height.

Abnormal wear, if the adjuster wheels are seized. Things of that nature. When you put them back together, make sure they are adjusted up good.
