I'm changing the Transmission in my 1996 dodge ram 1500 4x4 . will a 064-8 interchange with a 064-3 ?

Nope, won't work. 95 is going to be an RH trans, 96 is RE.

1996 seems to be a cutover year - My 1996 Ram 2500 4x4 (which was produced early during the 1996 model year) uses a 46RH automatic transmission. I'd suggest that you check to see what transmission is in your truck (RH or RE), especially if the truck was produced early in 1996.
