Default vacuum check valve?

working on a 1994 Dodge 1500 with the 5.9 gas engine. Finished up the intake plenum fix. New exhaust and cat. Full tune up and what not. I noticed what looks like charcoal in the vacuum line coming off the front of the throttle body. Presumably from the charcoal canister. I assume Ill need a new canister. But at the moment my main concern is the check valve/orifice at the front of the throttle body. I would like to replace it, but can't find one. Anndd Im not sure what direction it was installed. Any help would be appreciated.

Napa has check valves that'll work for pretty cheap. The check valve should have an arrow on it pointing in the direction of flow. Point the arrow toward vacuum source.

Surprised you haven't had an evap code come up. I can't remember the exact code that kept popping up on me a few years ago, but it was caused by little pieces of charcoal from the canister blocking the purge solenoid. I took the solenoid off, shook out the charcoal pieces a couple of times, cleared the code and it was good for a little while. Eventually I replaced both the canister and the solenoid and haven't had an issue since then.

I got this truck new in 95 as a carryover. I have seen the check engine light one time. Was for the transducer on the EGR. For whatever reason my truck does not set codes lol. Never has. After the first 200k miles I just assumed d the 02 sensor needed replaced haha. My charcoal canister is dead. Having trouble finding a new one. I think until I find a new one, I’m going to just empty the canister”it just runs out the top” and run it like that.
