2 options... one is go to autozone or advanced or your local chain.. and get a spark plug boot puller... the guys there will know what it is...works really well... or also you can use a pair of needle nose and yank it off but that can run the risk of tearing the wire... you can ALSO take a rubber malet and break off the porcelen tip so you can get to the spark plug to get it out and also so you can get to the boot better to dig out the broken one...... the last option is a last ditch effort.... and make sure you put some di-electric grease on the plugs before you put the boots back on the new ones...itll help this the next time around...good luck!

or, you can take a pair of pliers and pull off the shield that is around the boot, then you should be able to get down farther on the boot and use more mussle to pull it off. then you can put the shield back on.

my shields are removed btw... MSD 8.5 wires...

I had this happen to me and I took my propane torch and warmed the boot up and twisted it with some robogrips. Since the boot sits on the spark plug and is used to getting super hot it wont melt as fast as you think. I would only recommend this theory if you have new wires. I found about everything stuck can be fixed with my handy dandy torch. In my ranger I had to take a hammer and break off the end once to get the socket on it.

If you snap off the tip take a compressed air gun and blow any of the porcelen chunks from around the hole BEFORE you remove the plug. I almost dropped a chunk of the porcelen into the chamber once. Oh .... BTW for any of you people who have not grown up yet save the broken porcelen and next time you are at the junk yard toss it as hard as you can at a car window. Even a piece as small as an M&M will work. It is fricking amazing that something with almost no mass can cause a window to explode like a bomb hit it. Years ago in my auto class somebody told me about this and I had to see it to beleave it. Of course as you check out of the junk yard ... pay for the window

Hey Steve00, I have the MSD 8.5mm wires and I didn't have any problems putting them on even with the shields. ( I didn't know the shields came off...) Do I need to remove them for some reason?? Also, I put Champion Truck Plugs in mine when I changed the cap, wires, etc. They appeared to have a shorter center than the stock Champion plugs I had in there. Do you see this causing any problems?? I wondered if this caused a slight loss in compession. My deal is - I have all the stuff listed in my signature, and my mileage still hasn't improved. Truck runs better, but I was hoping that by increasing performance the mileage would increase as well. Hasn't happened. I still get 12mpg. Any Thoughts???

the shields are just in the way... w/aftermarket wires you dont need them. I got tired of trying to fish out my spark plug socket when swapping plugs.

on the dual out flow's... are they 2.5"s?

yea i took mine out the day after a night of nasty wheelin... made it a pain to get in there and clean out the sand when i was tryin to change the fouled plugs... makes it alot easier when your doing plug and wire maintence too... ive never had a problem with heat with even stock wires.. now i got bocshe (sP) wires (witch arent worth the money when i could have gotten msd wires for 20 bux more) and still no problems with heat... they came out realyl easy too...pair of needle nose and a good ole yank-a-roo... it also makes the motor look better too...

No, I used to have 2.5's, I needed to replace the exhaust recently due to some rust-throughs, so I went with the Flow 40 (single in, dual out) and 2 1/4" dual outs with 3 1/4 chrome tips. Any thoughts on my choice of plugs? I index them as much as possible when installing also. This particular set indexed really well - so I should have gained a little.....
