Default Steering Box

I’ve done all the modifications other than changing the steering box itself. Is there a box available that can make the handling lighter and more positive?

Redhead offers two different boxes. Only difference between them is the steering ratio, I think one is 16:1, and the other is 18:1.... the latter would be the one you wanted, but, it is probably the same as stock. Another option would be to mod the flow control valve at the pump, to allow for slightly higher pressure.

Redheads are not lighter, they are stiffer and tighter as they are overbuilt for heavier work load. They have no play though which is really what we want to eliminate, correct?

If you want light, play the stock reman roulette.

I would have to suggest getting the original one rebuilt by a reputable shop. I did try a rebuilt Cardone and although they did a good job it wasn't as good as the original. Getting steering box work done comes after everything else has been redone.

I wouldn't even know where to FIND a reputable shop around here...... I don't know of anyone that would even consider it. Not even the dealer. They wanna sell me a new one.
