Rough idle/acceleration/stalling occasionally.
Haven't driven the truck much this summer (started it once a week and let the engine get warm and keep the battery charged), but changed the oil the other day and took it out for a 15 minute ride. Stopped by my parent's for 20 minutes or so and when I started it to leave, the engine was sputtering. Tach would jump up and down (300 to 3000). Shut it off, started again, same issue. Shut it off, started again, same issue. Fourth time I started it the issue was gone. This happened three consecutive days, same exact scenario. Drove it 15-20 minutes, let it sit 15-20 minutes, first couple starts it would be wonky, on the 3rd, 4th or 5th restart it would be fine.
Start with cleaning the throttle body then. Gasket is like two bucks or so. (actually take it off, and clean it out.) Leave the battery disconnected while you do your thing. When you have it all back together, turn the ignition on, (not start) count to ten, then start the truck. (don't touch anything) PCM will relearn idle fairly quickly.
Yea I pulled the throttle body and cleaned it back when I replaced all of the sensors on it. No luck. I got a good look down into the intake plenum when I had it off and it looked pretty good for 150,000+ miles.
