Default Oil leak at rear of engine at top of block

Hey everybody,

Not a new member just don't have access to my old email address to reset my password.

My truck is currently getting a overhaul and finally got around to replacing my oil pump, RMS, and oil pan gasket. I changed these out because I have been having a leak for a while. None of those solved my issue. I am leaking oil from the top rear of the block and this morning pulled the kegger off and noticed oil build up around the distributor base, Oil Sender. I replaced the plenum last year.

What all up there would leak? It is running off the back of the block on passenger side, down the tranny and leaking onto exhaust. Weird thing is while it's idling, doesn't leak but when I get it out driving in my neighborhood it starts puking.

Could be either..... Wouldn't hurt to replace them both. Welcome back.

Oil Sender isn't even 6 months old, distributor has to be programmed by a dealer for fuel sync if I change it out correct?

I have had new parts fail right out of the box. They just don't make 'em like they used to..... if it's leaking oil, replace it. If it is wet around the crimp, or in the socket where the connector plugs in, it's bad, and needs to go.

Mark the position of the distributor body in relation to the block. Pull the cap, and mark where the rotor is pointing as well. Change the O-ring, and put the distributor back in, and make sure your marks line up. Should be all set.
