Default A/C issues 98 ram 1500 w/ 5.9l v8

Well, My AC doesnt work. went to get a ac recharge thing and realized im missing the cap for the low pressure line. so it wont hold any freon. i unplugged and plugged in the wire going to the accumulator and the compressor clutch kicked on but just for a second and then stopped. this was the only way i could get the clutch to move at all. Anyone have any imput?

Since the system is essentially empty..... Replace the schrader valve in the low pressure port. I think you can also get new caps for them. Then, vacuum/refill the system, and you should be good.

It's the schader valve that holds the refrigerant (r134a to be precise) in the system, not the cap. Cap merely protecs the valve so it won't get pushed accidentaly.

If you can get the clutch activated for a second, you are either low on refrigerant, or you have electrical issue on some component. Start by checking system pressure with a gauge.
