I just bought a Dorman Intake Gasket Kit with the bolts. Hope the bolts are the right size(have no reason to not have confidence that they will).

Otw home to dive in head first!

Well...if they're too long I guess I'll off to Ace.

The only way to use the factory length bolts is a thicker aluminum plate

Weird...or dumb. Will I run into problems if I use some washers to take up the extra length?

Dumb design from the factory, you are right . It might work but I would advise against it. You only want to do this job once :b

Agreed...do it once. However, if the plenum hasn't already been changed(by previous owner, doubtful since it has ridiculously low miles for a 99), I'll be back in it within the next year or so.

Just so I'm clear on this, if the plenum cover bolts in the Dorman lit are the same length as those that come out of it, the new ones are too long. Correct?
