Default Horn Question

1995 Ram 2500

I just replaced my horn, which wasn't working, and all seems well. But I have a question on whether or not the horn should beep when the ignition is off. Not by itself, but when I depress the horn button on the steering wheel. I thought the horn only honks when the ignition is on. Is this normal for this truck?

Yes, it's normal. It's a safety function and must be available without keyed ignition.
