Default Transmission combination question

I know this has been discussed in detail, but I want a definitive answer.

I have a 99 ram 1500 4x4 with a 5.2, I found a 98 2500 4x4 with a 5.9. Can i put the tranny from the 99 into the 98 without any issues?

Yes. Bolt right in, hook right up, work just fine. I don't recall what year they changed the P/N switch though, went from three pin, to five pin. That's fixable as well, if it becomes a problem.

Yeah, check the wiring diagrams for the different years. I think the guys with the electronic PRNDL used the 5 pin switch there. I *think* there are adapters to fit the correct switch to either trans, the holes they thread into are different sizes.
