Default Oil smell

Any suggestions on why i smell oil after i let off the accelerator. I dont even have to be getting on it. I could be holding it at 40 and as soon as i come to a stop i smell oil. I dont have any visual leakage on the block. I thought maybe theres some on the motor and its burning off because i just put a newer motor and tranny in it. But now its been a month and and still the same thing. I never smell oil any other time besides when i come to a stop. Its a 96 ram 5.2. 4x4

Check the PCV system. Could also be a valve cover gasket leaking.

What 2bit said

also. Check the bell housing at the bottom and see if you got a small drip of oil

it may be small enough not to leak when driving or you don’t smell it while driving

but. When you stop, oil will drip right on to the crossover pipe the runs right under the bellhousing and cause the smell
