I don't see any trans as "inexpensive" to rebuild. Maybe the 700R4 trans, those were a dime a dozen when I was concerned about them. (Had an 88 Formula.)

I would LOVE to have more gears in my 98 though. Retro-fitting one of the newer 6 or 8 speed transmissions would be awesome. Trouble is, I would likely spend about twice as much as I paid for the truck to manage it. Don't see that happening any time soon. Unless I win the Lotto.

Interesting read on the internals of the bigger trans working in the smaller. Would the 47/48RE parts work in a 46RH?? So far the reman 46RHi got is holding up to my 360 build. The 42RH didn't make it a mile, lol. But when it comes to rebuild, I would most likely upgrade the parts from the 47/48 if they will work in my non electric controlled trans.

Yes the RH series can be build just like the RE series can, they are almost identical aside from a few minor differences that make the RE electrically controlled, which is mainly for the OD and torque converter lockup, they still have a hydraulic valvebody like the RH does.
