Hi I have a 98 Dodge Ram 1500. I flooded the trans and it’s down. My trucks an extended cab 4wd 5.9. My friend has a single cab 5.9 with a bad trans as well. He got a new one or put in but he said that it’s the wrong kind for his truck since his is a single cab. And it’s made for an extended cab? So what I’m asking is, is there a difference in the extended cab and single cab 4wd 5.9 trans.???

 

Cab makes a zero difference to the trans. So no.

 

Year of the truck is the only difference. Things changed over the years, and if you pick the wrong year trans, it either won't work at all, or, it just won't work right. Difference between 2 and 4 wheel drive as well, but, that's just the O/D housing that is different.
