Default 1996 2500 Dodge Laramie SLT Hubcaps will not stay on.

Hello all! I recently had my 2500 serviced, and the hubcaps will not “press” in all the way. Am I doing something wrong? The rims are stainless steel chrome, originals. I’ve attached a picture to illustrate the issue, thank you.

What's the question ? Are the caps falling off (title says will not stay on) or are you wondering about the gap ? The gap is normal with steel wheels, mine look the same.

The question was why they wouldn’t “lock” in place, but I got it. All I had to do was tap them on each side lightly to work them on the bolts.

Good you figured it out. Mine need a pretty good whack to get them on, they also require some effort to get off.

Thank you. Yes, taking them off was tough until I used a small crowbar to pry them off gently from all sides.
