How about using an old idle solenoid? A flip of a switch and idle goes up to what ever you set it at. You will have to fab a way to hook it up to the throttle.

Yeah that sounds perfect.

Can you give a little more detail, ie do you have a particular part in mind?

This kind of sounds similar to what Moparfanatic might have been talking about with the cherokee IAC mod he was researching that didn't pan out for him...

I am all ears.

GM diesels with Stanadyne DB2 injection pump have a high idle solenoid, but engine speed increase is just a couple of hundred rpm's. Solenoid has rather short stroke.
Cummins shut off solenoid has a much longer stroke, might be something to consider.

I have a manual idle adjuster. It's from old Toyota Land Cruiser. It has stepped shaft, so selecting the correct speed is easy. Took me a while to figure out how I connect it to the accelerator pedal, but when I got the idea it was just a few minutes and had the part done.

But wouldn't it be sweet if you could use the cruise control for high idle? That's how they do it on heavy trucks. While driving it works as a CC, and while parked you can adjust the speed anywhere from idle to redline.

You need this for the PTO also. Do a google search for "idle solenoid" and you will see all kind pop up. I'm sure you will see them all over ebay also. Countess cars used them during the 70's. They still make them for some applications and universal ones. You'll need make something(or mod the bracket) to mount it to hit the throttle up a bit when it's engage like this...
