Returned the Ryobi today. Didnt bother trying it. Doubt it has the nuts to get er done. Gonna throw down for the Earthquake, seems like more of a guarantee. They got a coupon that gets it down to 229. Not bad for what you get, but way more than I planned on spending on a tool. Will probably save me many headaches in the future

Regular
Extended would rob torque and make it harder to get into some areas

I ended up getting the extended. The guy at HF said it actually helps more with removing things with the extended. He said that since it flex's slightly it helps give it a little extra removing power.
Regardless, I got the pinion nut off without needing to hold the yolk. I might have squeezed the trigger halfway for about half a second before it came right off. Zero Effort. However the yolk is on there pretty good. I gave the ears a few taps with the pipe wrench but didnt want it hit it too hard out of fear of damaging the bearing. I might have to get a puller.
I also received the new center support bearing which is being pressed on by a local shop today. I measured the torque required to spin the pinion/wheels at 135" per lb.

I managed to get the yoke off today, but slide it right back into place as soon as I noticed all the gear oil leaking out ! DUh ! It keeps the oil in. I suppose I could put a pan under it to catch it all then reuse. Which is what seems to make the most sense, especially since the yoke will need to be off for a bit to change that seal. I am considering buying a puller from HF. That yoke wasnt as easy as I would have liked to get off. I did as recommended above and just tapped on the yoke ears with a hammer.I alternated sides to try to make sure it came off evenly without damaging the splines. Im just a bit concerned that I could damage the replacement one if I hammer on it like that to remove it. I was really hoping to make the trek down to the pull n pay tomorrow, but alas, there is yet another storm coming in. It might end up being a monday mission.

It's honestly pretty hard to damage these, just use common sense

Made it to the pull n pay yesterday. Due to yet another huge storm the drive took over 3 hours each way. I actually sat for almost an hour in one place on the interstate while they claned up wrecks. Finding and removing a yoke was easy. However this time that pinion nut required all of about 3 seconds with the impact to come loose, much longer than it took me on my truck.I think I probably had the part in my hand within 5 minutes of arriving.....however - since I had borrowed my wifes car for the day to run these errands I had promised her that I would pick up some parts for her Subaru. This was not easy. Its a 2009 and there just werent very many at all in the yards.I ended up going to 4 more salvage yards with no luck. Basically spent 3 of the 5 hours in the city driving and searching for parts for her so I wouldnt have to come home empty handed, which is what happened anyway ! Like a idiot I did not grab the u bolt straps and bolts from the pull and pay. Since the book states that you should always replace these when doing the u joint, I had planned on buying new ones. Of course none of the auto stores that I stopped at in the city had them. I ordered them form my local shop, but they wont arrive til tomorrow. So for today I am just going to attempt to replace the seal and install the new yoke. If successful I will be almost done ! Thanks fellas, I will post back with more results when I have em !
