Default Valve body messed up??? Help please quick

Hi I have a 98 Dodge Ram 1500. I’m currently replacing the trans. I have rebuilt it and was fixing to put it back in when I put the tail shaft back on and noticed there was no clicking in the shifter. It’s wouldn’t grab a gear other than park I believe. So I took it all back out and looked at the valve body. So with the valve body all the way out I can see that it’s only catching park. It just loosely travels between all other gears. It’s as if the gears aren’t grabbing. Please help as I need to finish this tonight. Thank you!

Isn't there a ball backed by a spring that engages a 'rooster comb'... or some such.

Is the gear selector moving the parking rod back and forth with the valve body dropped? Do you mean you can move the lever on the valve body by hand between gears with little resistance ?

Hi all, hey you is correct there is a ball with a spring behind it. I had a spare throttle body and checked them, I believe the port on the one that broke was wallowed out
