Another wet carpet cause is a/c condensate tracking back along the underside of the drain tube, past a deteriorated firewall seal.

Fix this with a 90 elbow on the end of the drain so the condensate drips away.

It has to come from the firewall area. Window seal, cowl drain plugs clogged, or HVAC box like Spillage said
