Default Towing

Can I tow a 2001 Dodge Ram 1500 3.9 v6 single cab short bed with a 1997 Dodge Ram 1500 5.9 v8 short bed single cab which I just got the transmission rebuilt and put a transmission cooler on I need to get it to Texas from Las Vegas

I think that is going to put you overweight. I don't recommend it for a variety of reasons.

Can you? Yes. Use a trailer or put it on a tow dolly and remove the driveshaft. Is it a good idea? Maybe not. From Las Vegas to Lubbock is 880 miles. That's a long way to haul something heavy with a light duty truck. If it were me, I'd get a second driver. Fuel and food for two trucks and two people is a LOT cheaper than a burned out transmission, blown engine or wrecked rig.
