Will a bad alternator be the cause of a my rebuilt transmission to be stuck in first gear?

If system voltage is low, need to fix that first before anything else meaningful can be determined.

I just changed the battery for a new one. My next step is to get the alternator tested and or replaced. I changed the ECM already. Transmission is rebuilt also.

Back yard garage, no warranty, and I drove it home maybe 15 to 20 miles. He couldn’t find the short in the electronics

I'm thinking it's more mechanical. Usually when electronics fail you get 2nd and 3rd
