Default Confused

I have an 02 dodge ram 1500 5.9l and the screwiest transmission problem. I can start her up and the tranny will work fine but feels like I'm pulling a 10000 lbs trailer. I can shut it off and turn it right back on and the transmission has its power back except won't shift out of first till it hits 5000 rpms. Once it shifts it works good until it drops below 2500 rpms then I have to romp on it till it hits 5000 rpms again.

Think I would be more inclined to see if the computer thought anything was wrong, before spending money......

I get confused on how many people answer my questions but yours keeps popping up . Please help I'm so lost. I changed the solenoids and the 3-4 shift spring which was broke the computer first showed output sensor and governor solenoid bad now the computer doesn't show anything I just drained the oil again it was dark the first time I did it it was black. The transmission was working before the changes now it wont shift out of first at all. Please accept my apologies for not understanding how this forum works . My brain doesn't work like it used to PTSD really sucks if this thread goes to someone other then hey you please let me know

If the fluid was black, there is a good chance the trans is simply toast. What codes are you getting?
