I got a 96 2500 5.9 mag engine with a engine coolant leak coming from the corner of the head and intake manifold. I cant see exactly if its the head leaking or the manifold gasket. I was wandering if anyone came across this issue? if it the intake I can replace with motor in truck if it the head I gotta pull motor. motor has 181,000 miles on it

 

Reseal the intake, and see what ya get. Fix the plenum while you are at it. You can do the intake with the engine in the truck. If you are determined, (and a contortionist) you can do the head with the motor in the truck as well.

Im hoping its intake cause its alittle easier to do then the head. plus cheaper cause if im gonna do one head I might as well do both. reason I asked about intake is that I cant figure how its coming out but not in motor oil?

 

There are coolant passages in the manifold..... if the gasket is leaking, it all depends on just where it is leaking that determines where the coolant comes out...... Pull the front spark plug on the side thats leaking, and see what it looks like. If it looks like it has been steam cleaned.... may be a head gasket.
