I did 2 things 2 picasso (96 ram 1500/318). The first thing i did was 2 change the valve stem seals which made a HUGE difference in not only oil consumption but carbon build up. Second, I installed a catch can for the same reason as you and roughly, year, year n a half later (too long 2 remember) ping almost completely gone n most carbon build up on piston heads gone. Winter months I've got roughly 4-6 oz of chocolate shake...like stuff, summer time, a couple'o oz of the dark brown stuff.

Since the catch can didn't come with any kind of instructions it required a little guess work. Some brillo pad type material came with it which is supposed to help the oil condensate I guess. I stuffed about half of that stuff inside the little cup type thing on the upper inside of the catch can. Does that seem like the right thing to do?
