Default 2001 Dodge Ram 4x4 1500 5.2L best upgrades?

First timer here.... Any suggestions on upgrading my 2001 Ram 4x4 5.2L engine for better performance? Chip, programmer, or intake... Slow budget so keep that in mind please.

i would recommend exhaust, programmer, CAI,throttle body(not a TB spacer they are pointless),maybe upgrade ignition, but the big thing is take it one step at a time and do your hoomework on whatever you buy. Make sure that you do mods that compliment each other and dont cancel each other out. Good luck with your truck. I started modding mine and now i have NSVD ( Non-Stock Vehicle Disorder) it usually hapeens to everyone that does mods once you stop it just keeps going and you cant stop so just be careful. Again good uck and welcome to DF

I'd do exhaust, headers, and intake first.

I did the Cold Air Kit right off the bat. It looks cool, gives a bit of a boost overall to performance and gas mileage. U really can't lose.

Hi

Nice screen name

I had a name of SirWacker once.

I have the same truck with the same engine.

I did the flow master first because you can get results you can hear and I slight increase in power from less back pressure.

If you want to hear it click here --->> http://www.ronbarthelt.com/Flowmaster_40.wmv

Then I did the Filter Pack from k&n

Noticed snapper throttle response under load.

Next mods are Fastman Throttlebody/roller rockers/Hyperpac. Not in any order - Just what ever I happen to like first.

read this thread... cheep upgrades...
https://dodgeforum.com/m_349385/tm.htm

id do what was suggested earlier as well... but if the budget is really tight, do the 180 t-stat, K&N drop in and if your skilled enough, mod the intake.

Default dodge a/c problems

I have a 2001 ram 1500 5.2 v8 and the ac system is giving me trouble. I replaced the whole a/c system except the heater core assimbly under dash. I changed the compressor, condensor, and accumulator tank. i also changed the blend door actuator. After i was finished i still have no air moving threw the front vents just defrost.I also changed the a/c contol switch. Any ideas please lol

Welcome, Logan.

You dug up a very old thread to ask an unrelated question so I suggest you go the main Tech page and post a new THREAD by clicking the little tab to the upper left.

But to answer your question, and you're gonna hate this, but it sounds like you just have a vacuum leak which can be solved for less than ten bucks. You'll have to search for it but it sounds like a large one if there's no dash air at all. There's little check valves under the hood near the AC stuff that cause leaks. I just found mine today actually under the axle- the CAD actuator line had broke. No more air to defrost for me. Best of luck but I would still post on the main page if I were you.
