Want to turn 99 gasser single cab short bed with camper shell into a sort of ram chager or 4 runner style. With bench seat in back. I get roll cage and all the safety needed. But has anyone seen this or done it.

 

i would look at some of the k5 blazers or 79 ford bronco's and see how they re-enforced the cab for this set up.

 

Bronco is the first thing that came to mind for me as well.

See how the cab-cap transition is done.

 

The cab and bed aren't seperate on a Bronco it's a once peice body just like any other SUV.

 

Easier way is to remove rear glass from the cab and front glass from camper shell, and use accordion boot to seal the gap.
But for easier acces, you want bigger opening (and from the title I understood that you are willing to cut) and it's doable. Just a lot of work. But you'd use the accordion boot in that case, too.

 

If it where me i would weld pieces in between the cad-bed and make it "one piece" Then cut the back top section off a ramcharger and weld it up. Lot's of fab work! I believe i seen in Mexico they actually made a ramcharger from the second gen rams.

That would require bodymounts under the bed, otherwise it would rip itself apart in no time.

 

You'll need to do some heavy reinforcing as the cab and body tend to flex separately.
